Who do you work with?
Married and unmarried couples, engaged partners, and occasionally individuals who want to work on a relationship. We serve adults 18 and older.
Do both partners need to attend?
Ideally yes. If one partner isn't ready, an individual session focused on the relationship can still help.
Is counseling only for couples in crisis?
Not at all. Many of our couples simply want to communicate better or prepare for a big change.
How long are sessions?
60 or 80 minutes. The first intake session is always 80 minutes.
How many sessions will we need?
Many couples notice a shift within 6–8 sessions. Some continue for several months. It's always your choice.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes, via a secure HIPAA-compliant video platform for clients located in New Jersey at the time of the session.
Do you take insurance?
We're out-of-network and provide superbills for possible reimbursement.
What if one of us wants to separate?
Discernment counseling can help couples decide on a direction with clarity, whatever that direction turns out to be.
Is what we say confidential?
Yes, with standard legal exceptions such as imminent risk of harm. We explain these at intake.
Do you work with LGBTQ+ couples?
Absolutely. Every couple is welcome at Twinoak.
