Twinoak was founded by Calvin Hernandez to offer couples in Somerset County unhurried, thoughtful relationship counseling.
Our story
Why "Twinoak"?
Two oaks planted close together grow their roots side by side. They share soil and weather, yet each keeps its own trunk. That's the picture of partnership we work toward: two whole people, growing in the same direction.
Calvin Hernandez opened the practice after years of working with families and couples in northern New Jersey. He wanted a quieter setting than a large clinic — one where couples see the same counselor every week and never feel processed.
Today Twinoak remains intentionally small. We keep our caseload limited so there is time for preparation, follow-up notes and the occasional longer session when it's needed.

Founder
Calvin Hernandez
Calvin is the owner of Twinoak Couples Counseling. His work centers on communication, conflict repair and helping couples navigate major life transitions. He has trained in the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy and leads the practice's premarital program.
Outside the office, Calvin coaches youth soccer, hikes the trails around the Raritan River, and is a stubborn but improving home cook.
